Martin Flaherty is an expert on sustainability, corporate, and brand communications. Since 1999 he has consulted to companies and associations on a variety of issues affecting corporate culture and product development. In 2007 he co-founded the first web-based software (ecoScorecard) to create the necessary product documentation for the green building industry. He sold the company in 2012. Flaherty has worked with executive leadership at the Coca-Cola Company, General Motors, the WELL Living Lab at the Mayo Clinic, the U.S. Green Building Council, Aflac, Herman Miller, TOTO USA, and international trade associations on the practical application of sustainability and how it affects brand and corporate culture. He has developed CSR and marketing communications as well.
He created the Floorscore and level sustainability brands. Both brands represent thousands of products and are referenced nationally and internationally by commercial builders and governments for sustainable product selection.
Over the past eight years Flaherty has worked with the commercial furniture and international design community to understand how the physical environment affects culture and employee engagement. And he is a sought after speaker on the issue of employee retention and engagement.
Flaherty is a member of Herman Miller’s Sustainability Advisory Board and works to help further their position as a leader in corporate social responsibility.
